2/15–17–Sailing the Tasman

Sea days.  Typical sea days.  Read, eat, drink, watch movies. Including the really stupid Expendables movie, which we still cannot believe we sat through.  But we did. The popcorn made us stay!

Nothing much to report, except we have been incredibly lucky with the weather – sun or partly cloudy and in the high 60’s – and the seas – calm to moderate, not bad at all for the Tasman sea.  Phew. I’m especially relieved since our cabin is way forward on this sailing.  It was a gamble that has paid off so far.

We go through New Zealand immigration.  We’ve not bought a thing – so that’s a snap.

Communications are back on track, and they hold the Platinum Plus cocktail party, where the Captain tells us that he is hopeful we will make Auckland by our 6 am allotted time, but there are a couple of other ships in, and he thinks we will more likely be in around 9:00 or 9:30. Not a big deal for us – we’re just picking up a car to drive north – but that could be big issues for folks with flights.  We’ll see.

And so we sail on, spending our last day, as usual….reading, writing, eating, drinking, going to the crew talent show and the farewell production show.  Our next post should be from the terrace of our harborfront apartment in Whangerei.
