3/1 - Travel day begins

Normal start to our day- coffee, emails (happy birthday to my mom!), gym. Then the waiting- and the packing- begins. Packing is easy. Waiting is boring. We finally get to 6:00 and our taxi is waiting. 

Check in is a breeze. Boarding passes to narita, bags checked all the way through. Dinner at the Khoa Soi house, this time with beer (last time we did this it was the big Buddhist holiday so no alcohol). Khoa Soi for Ed, fried wontons for me. 

Back up thru security, we hit passport control. The agent is lovely, but having some issue with our passports. Turns out we stayed 1 day over our visa. Huh? We came in on January 31and are leaving on March 1. February only had 29 days (leap year), how could that be? 

She's cute. She says it's a 1000 baht fine, then she says 10,000 baht. What??? "Just kidding," she says. Phew!  She goes somewhere with our passports and finally comes back and tell us to be more careful next time. Yes, ma'am. We absolutely will!  Yikes!

Ok. So. Trip begun! 2 hours in the waiting area sipping on beer before the first of our 4 flights and 30 total hours of flying. Joy!  More later......
