Every day there is something different down here in the Low Country! Of course we have water right outside our back porch…
with tons of birds like this Great Blue Heron on the bridge (one of our fav’s!),
an Osprey perched in a tree…
the Osprey on a fishing expedition….
Tons more fish for the birds to catch….
Turtles!!
And …. Otters???? No way could we believe this little family of otters came out of the lagoon in our complex. We have no idea where they went after they left the water (Ed tried to follow them, but they were too quick for him – or too good at hiding in the bushes!). They’ve visited twice now!
Of course, Low Country life just wouldn’t be right without our very own lagoon alligator!
We’ve christened him Al, or Little Al, actually. He’s a juvie who comes to visit in the afternoons – and hasn’t really figured out that he’s not the “king” of the lagoon. See below for his encounter with one of the Great Blue Heron’s. Al was just hissing away, opening his jaws and expressing his reign over the kingdom. Of course the Heron just looked at him for a while, then turned and walked away!
