Making final preparations for our new adventure, 4 in 40 (4 continents in 40 days)
The basic itinerary is:
Richmond to DC by car. DC to Miami to Quito, Ecuador on American Airlines. 2 nights in Quito at JW Marriott. Quito to Baltra in Galapagos on TAME airlines. 7 days throughout the Galapagos on Celebrity Xpedition, by far our smallest ship ever at 92 pax. Back to Quito for 1 night at the Mariott. Late night flight to Lima, Peru. A few hours sleep and then a flight to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco then early (5:30 AM) off to the train and Machu Picchu. Overnight there at Aguas Calientes. Back to Cusco for another night, then back to Lima for one day and then late night flights to Miami/DC (Maggi and Richard) or Santiago, Chile/Rio de Janiero, Brazil (Ed and Cathy). A day of sightseeing and hiking in Rio then board the Oceania Insignia for transatlantic to Salvador and Recife, Brazil, Cape Verde Islands, Agadir, Morocco to Barcelona. 2 days in Barcelona, rent a car and drive to Madrid, overnighting at Monasterio de Piedra (ex monastary) then 2 nights in Madrid. Back to DC via layover in Dublin.
