2/12–Melbourne redux

We’re baaaaaccck!  LOL.  To prove how lucky we were when we were stranded, the weather today has turned.  It is chilly (in the 50’s and low 60’s) with rain and a strong wind that picks up in the afternoon.  We are waiting for the Captain’s update at 8am – which has been his usual schedule – but there is nothing forthcoming.  Hmmm….

So, we begin our daily schedule; the gym, coffee, etc., all the while waiting for an update.  Nada.  We do get a letter in the cabin from the Hotel Director saying they “anticipate” sailing for Auckland on Tuesday at noon – so if we want to go and explore Australia, feel free to so so, just let guest reception know if we will be out overnight and be sure to be back at the ship by noon on Tuesday.  Hmmm…..

We go to lunch, hang out, and still no updates.  We had decided not to go out today, because we’ve toured Melbourne and don’t have anything else we want to see.  Plus we have no Aussie money any more, and we’d prefer not to have to get more, then spend it for no reason, etc.  We can always get out and walk around the port area tomorrow if we want.

We do, however, decide to be proactive and get information about flying to Christchurch on Wednesday, and then to Auckland on Friday, if necessary.  With no information, we are getting a little concerned about the repairs. And if they will be able to successfully repair both azipods or just one.  As Ed says:  “2 azipods, we sail. 1 azipod, we fly.”  Yep.  That’s the ticket.

PS – they’ve cancelled the Lattitudes Platinum Plus Behind the Scenes tour which was scheduled for this morning. And they’ve cancelled the Platinum Plus get together with the officers and captain scheduled for this evening.  The other Lattitudes members had their cocktail party with the Captain last night, so we’ve been dissed!  Understandably, but still…..we are feeling really out of the loop here.

So, as of 3:30pm, all of our plans are on hold….but at least we have plans that can be put into action depending upon the outcome of this unexpected port stop.
