2/1-2–Chiang Mai

Thursday, 2/1 - We are doing some serious hanging around these days.   Today we did nothing until dinner!  I don’t even think we walked around anywhere.  We did do a lot of planning for Hanoi and Laos, and continued to work on the blog, but beyond that, it was a condo day.  Dinner entailed walking down to Tawans Corner Bar and Bistro, having a couple of beverages, and dinner.  The food was great – we started with fried spring rolls, then Ed had Khao Soi, while I had my new favorite stir fry with garlic, this time with chicken.  No vampires will be after me this evening.

We hung out for a while, but never got the scoop on the sale of the place. Although, now the “rent” part of the poster has been eliminated.  It must be hard to run the business back here though – they are off the beaten track, you have to know to go there, and marketing has got to be incredibly tough in this town. But beyond that, we don’t have a clue what’s up.  Although I would like to make an offer for the giant candles they have in the corner, I love those things and am already scheming on how to get them home.  LOL.

Friday 2/2 – Today we had booked (or tried to book) a bike ride in Lamphun.  Unfortunately the tour operator emailed that they only had the 2 of us booked for Friday and asked if we could move the trip to Sunday or Monday.  Sunday is out because of the flower festival, and Monday sort of is too, because we want to watch the Superbowl.  We were sort of bummed as we had been looking forward to going on the ride, and a little disappointed they wouldn’t go with just the 2 of us. We’ve had plenty of “solo” tours in the past. But, what can you do?  So, we spent the day hanging out once again..  Reading, writing, watching “It’s Never Too Late,” which btw is absolutely hysterical if anyone is interested.

I went up the street and had a foot massage which was excellent.  It was 45 minutes of foot and leg massage combined with a mini Thai massage.  Totally worth it, and in my opinion, way better than my Thai torture massage the other day.

Later that evening we trek up to Street Pizza for dinner.  They do have incredible thin crust pizza, just like being in Italy.  We were seated outside on the balcony, at the same table as we were 2 years ago.  Just like Deja Vu.  Although this time we ordered the zucchini sticks and only 1 Meat Lovers pizza to share. We don’t need left overs as we have enough food to last out our stay for remaining lunches.

The music starts, and it is nice out here on the balcony, and while their wine is super good (Italian Pinot Grigio), it is also super expensive.  So we decide to head back to Outlaws for a night cap.

It’s pretty busy at Outlaws tonight, and we end up at one of the last tables, where we sit and drink and chat and enjoy the nice evening temperatures.  After an hour or so, we wander on home, knowing we have to get up early tomorrow for the Flower Festival Parade.
