10/19–Embarkation day

We’re up early – even though we are trying to sleep in.  I mean, really, there isn’t anything to do until 10am when Carrefour opens, and we aren’t catching a taxi until 11…but…you know us! We can’t sleep!  So, we check email, football scores and such. Then head down to the buffet for coffee.  Back upstairs, we organize the bags.  Just re-distributing weight really.

We head out around 9:55 – and there is a line waiting to get into the grocery store.  Kid you not!  That was wild!  So- hey, when in Barcelona…we stood in line.  That place is just a zoo – no matter what time of day!  We filed into the store with everyone else, stocked up on our essentials (and non-essentials – the chocolate prices are unbeatable!  Tell that to my pimples!) and are outta there in mere minutes.  Phew!

Bags packed, sausage, beer and wine organized – we’re ready to go.  We check out and hop a cab to the port. Quick and easy. And embarkation is the same.  One of the smoothest we’ve ever had. Dropped the bags, walked right up to the Diamond check in, credit card swiped, pictures taken, we’re aboard before we know it.  Wow.  Nice!

Rooms not ready yet – of course – it’s barely noon! So we hit the buffet – good spread. This is the backward ship, where the buffet is in the front of the ship. Good when we are at port – we’ll see on the crossing!  Not wanting to take up valuable eating real estate, we finish lunch and head down to the Diamond Lounge, which is really small! Wow – we’ll see how this works on both cruises.  But for now, it’s fine to wait for the cabins.

1:00 finally rolls around and we get to stow our stuff in the cabin. Great location – right off the Centrum stairs.  Nice size room – with tons and tons of storage space – but not shelving space.  If you have a lot of things you want on shelves, you are challenged – but we don’t and have a couple of empty drawers at the end of unpacking.

Nothing else exciting to report – just a typical sail away day!
