1-12 The Rain Continues

Oh – another wash out day. We were so lucky yesterday on the Road to Hana.  Thanks to Ed and his constant weather vigilance.

Today, though, tomorrow and probably Friday. We’re just watching the weather and trying to plan out our big day trips.  But – today – it’s a monsoon. On and off, but you can’t predict it.  It pours, it’s a little sunny, it pours again.

The game plan today is to hang here at the cottage, do some work, get the laundry done, then go to the movies. Unfortunately, the washer and dryer are on the patio. And while the patio is covered, it’s not leak-proof. So the washer has water in it – no biggie, we can spin that out. But so does the dryer, so….think we’ll wait a bit and see if we can get a few hours in the next day or two with some drier (or dryer!!!  LOL) weather to do the laundry.

We get tons accomplished though, and then go to see True Grit at 3:30.  GREAT flick. Now we need to see the original!  After the movie (with the free refill of popcorn in our car!!!), we hit Ocean’s for happy hour, then the Saigon Pearl for dinner.  Great restaurant in the Azeka shopping center.  The sign over the restaurant just says “Vietnamese Cuisine” – and that’s what they go by in the phone book and on the web (go figure!). But – regardless of what they call themselves, they serve fantastic food – great Papaya salad (although not as spicy as Siam Paragon – but still good!), fabulous crispy chicken and Lemongrass steak “burritos” – actually rice paper eggrolls you make yourself. So much food – we have tons left over for lunch!

Back to the cottage, listening to the rain, the wind, and feeling the cool breeze flowing through the windows.  Tomorrow – more of the same. Maybe we’ll just watch movies here – and eat our free refill popcorn!
