1/21& 22–Lazy days in Kihei

After the march, we headed back to Kihei to hang out at the condo.  Even though we’d been up, driven back and forth to Kahului, we still got back to Kihei really early – almost too early to eat lunch. Almost!

I was starving and decided I wasn’t waiting any longer for the Poke, so we ate lunch around 10:30.  It’s fish, it’s good for you.

The rest of the day was spent reading and watching the winds pick up. There was one colossal wind storm on Saturday. It was like a Cat 2 Hurricane. The palm trees were blowing and bending, and the wind was howling.  We stayed in and just watched from the lanai.  Ferocious. It was worse than it looks here, but at least you can hear it!

Sunday dawned clear, and a little calmer.  It was still windy, but not like yesterday. We did our walk around the park, and it was amazing how may palm fronds were down – there was even the entire top of a palm tree, coconuts and all.  That would have killed someone if they’d been under it.

The rest of the day was taken up with football.  Breakfast at half time of the Atlanta-Packers game (can’t say we’re all that sad the Packers were beaten, it is the Falcon’s time.  But then again….I am a little partial to Aaron Rodgers.)  We spent the afternoon watching the Steelers lose.  Sigh. Not unexpected, but still.  Well, at least we don’t have to worry about missing the Superbowl.  It will be on the morning of our embarkation onto the NCL Star and we were already trying to strategize how and where we’d watch. But now? No worries!  If we can dump the bags easily and then go to the pub down the street, great.  If not?  We’ll get on the ship.  No biggie.

Sunday night we went to Moose McGillycuddys for happy hour and dinner.  Happy hour wines – ick.  But happy hour beers – nice!  Huge glass of Maui Brewing Coconut Hiwa for cheap – so what the heck!.  Both Ed and I had one.  Then grilled mahi sandwich for me and fish tacos for Ed.  Still the same great pub grubby sports bar hang out we remembered.  Nothing new here.  We’re happy.
