11/4–Brussels night two

Tonight we had asked Matthias if he knew about two restaurants a couple off blocks away that got really good review:  Fin de Seicle and 9 et Voison (owned by the same folks, same concept, right around the corner from each other).  Coincidence! He had taken Gaby and Sigis to 9 et Voison on Sunday night.  We said we didn’t want to go to the same place twice, but they loved it, so we decided to try Fin de Seicle first.  But as it turned out, it was way too too noisy and busy, so we went around the corner to 9 et Voisin.  Great atmosphere, menu on the blackboard, very helpful and friendly staff. We couldn’t recommend it more highly (but bring cash – cash only!).

We had an awesome meal.  Ed had Goulash, Gaby Chili con Carne, Sigis the spare ribs, Matthias Chicons Farcis which turned out to be meat wrapped in bacon and endive, and I had Gigot d’Agneau which is some sort of lamb…can’t tell you what, but I can tell you it was excellent.

After dinner, Sigis went back to hotel to turn in, but Gaby, Ed, Matthias and I went to see the Grand Place at night.  Stunning.

On the way back, we walked though Rue de Bouchers (a tourist eating street with tons of restaurants and all the hawkers out in the street to drag you in).  We also passed Delirium which is a bar that is in the Guinness World book of records for their over 2400 different beers.  Matthias says it is normally quite crazy busy and you can wait 10 or15 minutes queued up in line for your drinks!  Ah, the price of success.  Back across the street, with a look back at the Bourse….

….then back to the hotel for sleep and our next adventure to Antwerpen and Ghent.
