10/7 Sydney, Nova Scotia

Arriving in Sydney, the weather still isn’t really all that great. We had originally rented a car here, but then decided to blow that off. We’ve been here before and there really isn’t any sense in driving out to Cape Breton again in awful weather.

We end up taking a leisurely morning, then heading out to explore the town of Sydney. It’s a cute little sleepy town with one or two main roads, lots of little shops and a few bars/restaurants (and of course the ubiquitous Tim Horton’s!). We walked around a bit, found a pretty park with a fountain….

…then found a cool pub where we hoped to get Internet, but couldn’t connect (they said they were having problems, but we are thinking it’s an iPhone issue – we’ve had problems connecting other places too).  Stayed for a beer and a wine, warmed up a bit, then headed back down the main street toward the ship.

We followed a sign and wandered through a very local little craft market held in a church, then headed to the port where we wandered through the big craft market held in the port-side auditorium.  We remember this from last time!  Then we grabbed a tender and went back to the ship to hang out on the balcony and read.  Very relaxing day!
