4/1–Singapore afternoon

No one else seems much bothered by the impending storm, but we’re pretty much done for now, so we don’t mind heading back. We still take time for some quick snaps along the way – this cool waterfall, these bizarre hanging flowers – one just bloomed, one on it’s way out – and the stork fountain/pond.

We make it to the metro without a drop of rain.  On the train, we decide to go all the way to the Chinatown stop to hit the grocery store.  As it turns out, we walk out through the ChinaPoint mall where we find this awesome 1 SPD store – with chocolates and snacks for 1 SPD each (which is 72 USD cents) – then we found another grocery store for wine and beer and we are set!  The wine and beer are so expensive here, it’s crazy. But its totally expensive in the bars – I can buy a whole bottle for the cost of one glass in a bar – and it’s still 18 SPD.  Even if I throw half the bottle away, I’m still making out!

It has started to pour when we leave the mall, so out come our trusty umbrellas and we make the 15 minute trek back to the hotel in relative dryness.  The rain doesn’t feel all that bad considering how hot and humid it has been.  Once the room has been cleaned we actually take a long nap to get us back into the right time-zone, then head out to the hawker’s market for dinner.
