11/3–Sea day and ship’s tour

A nice day to just relax and hang out, today we aren’t doing much of anything, except a behind the scenes ship tour.  It is a pay tour (remember those credits!) and we figure why not? As it turns out, it is an excellent tour.  We see the galley, of course!  The storage areas with all the food, the laundry (teeny, tiny, those guys are amazing!), the environmental area where they recycle and sort our refuse, the engine room where the environmental officer and engineers explain all the buttons, bells and whistles and then the Bridge – which is totally cool because we get a really long overview of what happens up there,  and tons of information on the data, computers and electronic systems they use. We end up in the dining room with champagne and questions for the Maître D.  Everyone is so friendly and offers so much information and insight into what they do and the ship operates, it was well worth the couple of hours we spent traipsing around the ship.

Afterward, the rest of the day stretches ahead of us – reading, blogging, hanging around in general.  Waiting for tomorrow in Palma to see what is open and what is not and what we will find in town – since we’ve not stayed in town in years.
