4/18–Seville and Cadiz evening

We meet our bus chaperone and walk back to the bus (which is actually parked in the same location as where we were dropped off – just at the very end of the street).  There is a little drama going on at the bus meeting point.  Our bus chaperone is having a hard time counting us all, because everyone is generally just milling around and not too organized. There are people from another bus with us and one woman is making a big scene and talking about taking a taxi somewhere. Long story short, some people just should not travel.  They are either physically or mentally unprepared to do this sort of stuff – and its a drag on everyone else. Sigh.

The group finally manages to walk to the bus and get all loaded up (including the 2 people from the other bus), and take off toward Cadiz, only to get stuck in massive traffic for the Feria.  As good as it was on the way in – is as bad as it is on the way out. Of course we don’t care – ship-sponsored tour – they’ll wait for us!  And, it is great entertainment watching all the fancy dressed folks walking toward the festival area…including the cool guys and gals riding horseback!  In the middle of the city.  Too fun!

The bus ride is completely uneventful after that, just an hour or so of peace and quiet and relaxation until Cadiz.  Because it is still early when we get back, we decide to stroll around Cadiz a bit.  It’s a lovely city in its own right, with beautiful plazas and parks, traditional Spanish architecture and a lovely waterfront promenade.

It is a lovely little stroll and very nice to stretch our legs, but a pretty big tactical error as when we get back to the ship, the line to get into the terminal is horrendously long.  Oh well. We’re sadly used to lines from the S.S. Epic Disaster by now. Once onboard, we hang out in the cabin, watching the three mast sailing ship leave the port assisted by tugs – because it is wicked windy out.  I’m queasy just thinking about them sailing outside the breakwater.

And then we are off – sailing toward our next destination:  Gibraltar.
